WordPress

Install the Onhand plugin on a WordPress or WooCommerce site.

The Onhand plugin adds the assistant to your WordPress site without editing your theme. On WooCommerce stores it also lets the assistant see the visitor's cart.

Requirements: WordPress 5.8 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer.

Install the plugin

  1. Get the pluginYour Onhand contact sends you the plugin as a .zip file.
  2. Upload itIn WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the zip, and press Install Now.
  3. Activate itPress Activate. The plugin has no settings page; everything is managed in the Onhand portal.
  4. Check your domain is approvedMake sure Onhand has your site's domain on its approved list, then reload your site.

Using a caching plugin? Clear the cache after activating so every page includes the chat.

WooCommerce

With WooCommerce active, the assistant can see what's in the visitor's cart, change quantities, and point them to checkout. Nothing extra to set up.

Add a chat button to your menu

Add a custom link to any menu with the URL #onhand. Clicking it opens the chat. If you'd like only your own button and no floating launcher, ask us to switch the launcher off.

Remove the plugin

Deactivate and delete it under Plugins, like any other plugin.
