Build your assistant Content
Content
Teach your assistant from your website, files, and written answers.
Content is everything your assistant knows. It answers only from content that is published, so the quality of your content decides the quality of its answers.
Open Content in the portal. The Library lists every source; filter by websites, files, or articles, or search. Your plan's limit is shown as Knowledge library: X / Y chars.
Add your website
- Choose Add websitePick how to find pages:
- Crawl links: start from a page and follow its links.
- Sitemap: read your sitemap (up to 25 pages at a time).
- Individual link: add one page.
- Leave out what you don't wantUnder Advanced options, exclude paths that start with, contain, or equal a value, such as
/blogor/careers. - Pick the pagesPress Fetch links, then choose the pages to import in Manage links.
When your site changes, use Resync now on the source.
Upload files
Choose Add files and upload PDF, DOCX, or TXT files up to 20 MB each. For PDFs, make sure the text is selectable; scanned images can't be read.
Write answers directly
- Add Q&A: a question and the exact answer you want. Best for common questions with a precise answer.
- Add text snippet: any information, written in plain text or markdown.
Each entry has a title, an optional source URL, and a Published switch. Drafts are saved but not used in answers.
Public or internal. Mark an article Public when it's fine to quote to customers, or Internal for background the assistant should use but not repeat word for word.
Import from other tools
You can bring in articles from Notion or a Zendesk help center. The import runs once; your credentials are used for that import and not stored.
Tips for good answers
- Cover your top 20 customer questions first. After launch, check Topics to find the next ones.
- Keep each fact in one place. Two pages with different prices or opening times lead to confused answers.
- Unpublish or delete outdated pages instead of leaving them live.
